Visit Casper certifies over one thousand tourism ambassadors

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Visit Casper has now certified over one thousand people for the Casper Area Tourism Ambassador Program. These ambassadors help drive the visitor economy and open doors for tourists to explore the city.

“We just love creating this positive environment for our visitors which in turn creates returning visitors and it feeds into our economy. It’s saving us tax dollars at the end of the day just because they’re breathing life into our economy even more than us locals are able to,” said Amanda Sewell, the Destination Experience Coordinator for Visit Casper.

The program began in 2016 as the city prepared to see more visitors for the 2017 solar eclipse. Ambassadors go through a four hour, one time course where they are educated about the importance of the tourism industry and how it impacts their careers. These courses are offered about every two months.

Many small businesses in Natrona County send their employees through the program. Visit Casper is seeing more realtors, servers, and hotel staff members come through the program. They hope to see more careers represented in the ambassador program as it continues to grow.

“Having tourism ambassadors in every career, in ever business in Casper, Wyoming, it just makes Casper sound so welcoming and so wonderful,” aid Sewell.
